General Dentistry

Dental health begins with routine dental visits to your local NY dentist.  We recommend a routine exam & cleaning every six months for most adults and teens.  During these routine visits dentists check for cavities and gum disease.   When problems are diagnosed early on we can give you  easy to follow tips on what to improve.

When tooth decay is present we can painlessly remove the cavity to replace it with a harmonious “white” composite filling.  Our goal is to practice conservative dentistry, meaning we attempt preserve healthy tooth structure.   After the dental filling is placed, the tooth should feel same as before.

When tooth decay has grown extensively deep inside the tooth, it may reach the nerve of the tooth.  This can result in tooth pain.   In these situations we can get our patient out of pain by removing the infected nerve tissue inside the tooth.  This procedure is called a Root  Canal.  It’s not painful and will actually get a person out of pain. 

A porcelain crown is usually required after the tooth has received root canal treatment.   The crown covers the tooth completely to keep it from breaking.  A cosmetic dentist will make a porcelain crown to look and feel just like a natural tooth. 

Although, every dentist’s our goal is to save teeth.  There comes a time when a tooth maybe beyond repair.  In these situations a tooth extraction maybe required.   Dr. Evan Chen performs painless tooth extractions in our NY Dental office.
